Book Release Update: The Wood

Published on 17 May 2023 at 17:55

I'm getting nervously excited about the release of my first novella, The Wood. This story came to me as I was processing some of the new and (at the time) unexplainable things happening in my body as a result of post-COVID symptoms. That processing turned into a story about disability, self-acceptance, and found family. I'm planning to release the book on June 1st, just in time for me to table at the Trans Resistance Festival in Boston on June 3rd, where I'll be spreading the word about Underground Bookshelf and sharing my book release with audiences there.

The Wood is now available for pre-order!

You can pre-order the e-book on Amazon now! Follow the link below to pre-order your copy today. The e-book will be delivered to you automatically on June 1st! Scroll down to view the cover art and summary.

Image Description: An acrylic painting of a path leading through the brambles and into the trees. The deep browns, blues, and greens give the painting an eerie feeling. The title "The Wood" is printed across the center of the design in swooping brushstrokes. The author's name (Laura M. Browne-Lambert) is printed in tall block letters at the bottom of the painting.

A coming-of-age story set in a small village on the edge of the wood, this novella tells the story of self-acceptance, found family, and the power within.

Like every other girl in her village, Kyla has been taught to ward off curses with the right concoction of herbs, but when the curse of a new plague falls upon the Village, the Aunts fail to purge the illness from ailing citizens. After an accident leaves Kyla struggling to adapt to a new disability, she becomes the target of a witch-hunt. In order to survive, she will have to consider what it means to be a witch.

This is the first book released by Laura M. Browne-Lambert.
