Deaf Awareness Week runs from May 2-8. Awareness holidays are an important way to educate the public about the barriers that many communities face. However, the Deaf community, like many other communities advocates not just for awareness, but acceptance. Awareness is important, but it does not automatically lead to inclusion, accessibility, or action. It also doesn't dismantle the prejudices and attitudinal barriers that exist in American society.
This website is all about inclusion, acceptance, and access, so today's resource offers a list of books by Deaf authors as well as a few resources for the Deaf community and its allies. Read the article by visiting the Resources page or by clicking here. Scroll down for a list of resources for the Deaf community and its allies.
